So... 2009, huh?

Kind of a 'blah' year. Uneventful really. Not that I'm averse to things being uneventful -- better that than horribly, gut-wrenchingly, painful. But still, not really much of a year. Kind of like 1999, which was equally uneventful (if not more pleasant in some ways).

Thing that strikes me about 2009 is how fast it flew by. Seems like the other day it was October. And before that, spring. I didn't accomplish as much as I'd have liked to this year. Wrote a little, read a little. Saw some things I wanted to, did some things I'd been meaning to get around to. It wasn't a great year for me personally. I hit some pretty low ebbs. Felt awfully lonely at times. That might've contributed to the way the year felt, especially how fast things went by from the summer-on. Things got pretty crummy around June, and from there I got the swine flu, then my mood took a hit again, then I got the H1N1, and now my mood's not so great...

I did come to a few conclusions this past year. For one, I think I'm officially over Journey. Pop culture's killed "Don't Stop Believing", which is kind of weird since it's not really that great a song? I was already pretty sick of it, and then Glee comes along.

Also I figured out why Alicia Silverstone's body of work never quite clicked with me. Turns out she's just not a very good actress. Not sure how this occurred to me. I might've been thinking about Miss Match. Remember that show? I was a cute enough premise, but it didn't really do it for me. Turns out it was probably the person playing the title character that futzed the whole thing up. But I digress.

So, I suppose here's a tip of my hat to 2009. Here's hoping 2010 is a little brighter though. Or barring that, 2011.

My New Year

Although I'm only a week into the new year, I feel oddly like this year might be a good one. I find that particularly unusual as I'm not generally a "9" guy -- when it comes to years and months I have more success with "4"s, "5"s, and "8"s. But despite the severe back problems I've been afflicted with, I've already gotten a few outstanding items off my personal checklist and, in the process of improving a few things for the betterment of my back, have improved my overall quality of life. For instance, instead of using a converted side-table as a desk as I have for the last while, I found a desk at Ikea that is nicely economical size-wise and only cost me thirty bucks. Not only that but I have the old side table as a clutter-solver in place of the old desk chair I was piling stuff on. All things considered I'm feeling positive about the direction this year is headed in. Here's hoping that isn't a sign something horrible is going to happen to me in the not-to-distant future, and that my twisted lower vertebrates compensate for any dreadful eventualities.

Happy New Year

I think the fact I'm writing a New Years message on my blog at midnight says something about the scope of my plans to celebrate the new year, but whatever.

All the best to you and yours and all that then.

Hi there.

Hi. Hope everyone had a good Halloween. I was hoping to actually do something last night, but my semi-plans fell through. I guess the fact my pumpkin imploded when I was getting ready to carve it implied my Halloween would be about much fun as the last nine New Years. Pleasant, but woefully uneventful.

Anyway, I'm contributing to the Marvel Appendix website and my latest profile should be on the site in the next day or two. Don't think I've mention it in the blog so far, but figured I ought to lieu of having anything more recent to write about.

Edit: Turns out I mentioned it, not a week earlier. Whoops?

Happy Holidays All

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Kwazy Kwanzaa, a Tip-top Tet, and a solemn, dignified Ramadan.

Jeepers. It's been more than a month. So, what have I been up to....

Well, I've been doing school stuff. I'm in a few classes that are pretty out there so I'm a little over my head with work. Scrubs is back on the air and it's still pretty good. I heard a rumor it's going to ABC or something, but that wasn't totally clear. JLU is coming back on the air soon. It's been airing in the UK and it's all I can do not to download it. Christmas was good. I got some nice stuff. Got the Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume Three. It's the first set that's not totally marketed towards children so they put some of the politically incorrect wartime shorts on it. Kerr got an XBOX. He's been working a lot at the Airport Inn (conveniently located twenty minutes from the Hamilton airport), and he's been raking in the cash. Still hasn't paid back the money he owes me though.

I need to start working out soon. My pseudo-New Years Resolution was to drop twenty pounds by March. It's not a real N.Y.R -- since I think those are stupid -- but I need to get on that sooner than later. Johnny moved out to Edmonton to live with Nick. John got a job at Michael's the first day he was there. I told him not to start working there since he did that here and hated it, but less than two weeks later he applied at EB Games and he's there now. He's been out there for three weeks -- it's weird, it still hasn't totally sunk in yet. There's a lot of jobs in Edmonton though. More jobs than people. He got a bus transfer the first couple of days out there and it said "Driver's Wanted". Said there's a lot of pretty girls out there too. Might have to visit him one of these days.

That's about all I can think of for now. I'll check back soon.
